Paid Sick Time

One of those perks I'd taken for granted. The idea that you could just call in sick, be paid to stay home and not have to worry about finding someone to do the work for you.

I'm definitely getting sick and this morning as I lay in bed cursing the alarm ringing at 3:50am, I thought about the luxury of sick time. Now, being a part time employee of a coffee shop, there is no such thing. If I can't work, I lose $$ and have to take it upon myself to find someone to take my place. Good luck finding someone to do that at 4am....

I also thought about my lack of sick time yesterday. That, among all the things we want to do/need to fix in our house and knowing there's just not going to be funds to do what we need, plan a wedding, save for a honeymoon, and  still be able to eat, made me angry. Angry about how this economy has tanked, angry again at myself for some of the choices I've made in life, etc. ...

Happy Monday. *cough cough sniffle sniffle..."
