So humid...

I thought after the storms/rain went through it might cool down. I was wrong.

After sleeping in on my last day off til 11am, I laid around all day until the rain ended and finally peeled myself from my couch divot to go running. On tap for today, 2.5 mile run.

Weather conditions:
Temp: 76.5
Humidity: 92%
Dew Point: 74.

STICKY STICKY STICKY.

At least I'm not on the East Coast where it's like 100 degrees plus. But it still made for a pretty warm run. What I'm finding is the first 1/2 mile up to the first 8 minutes is pretty tough and I want to quit. Then I find a zone and it's smooth sailing until about the last 1/2 mile. Today was no exception despite the heat.

On tap for tomorrow:
      Strength and Stretching
I will be following a strength routine on sparkpeople.com

Diet:
I think I may give the weight watchers point system a try because it's more fluid than an actual eating plan which doesn't allow for eating out . My friend is a member and actually as a gift gave me the little start up kit. She still said that I should consider joining for real when I can afford to do so (which I very well might), but she'll teach me how to use the system and get going. I did a little research on my own and am already practicing using the guides and mentally keeping track of my intake.

  1. i sort-of did weight watchers. i didn't actually pay for it though. i had figured out my points sometime in '08 when i thought i would do weight watchers (WW allowed me 22, but i said f-that, and went with 24. it was fine in the end). i am trying to get back on that bandwagon because i have gained, well, a lot of weight in the last few months. but i love WW, and to be honest, if you have the willpower to make yourself stick with an exercise plan, you should be able to just follow WW without actually paying for it...:)

  2. I think i figured it out where I get 22 points too. I've seen it work for people and seen people go to the borderline eating disorder extreme with it. That can be said of any diet though.

Wanna be each other's FREE weight watchers support group? We can do some kind of FB messaging back and forth with weigh ins (so all information is kept private) or we can each blog it to stay accountable?

Ahh... willpower. That is my ongoing problem. I'm all gung ho right now on diet and exercise, then a few weeks pass and it all goes to hell. :)

  3. that would be fantastic, and i would totally be for our WW support group! 22 points- for some reason is seems SO MUCH LESS than 24. but you get to add on points when you work out, or something...i dropped down to 22 points probably in sept '09 because i'd plateaued a bit. it was HARD. i think i'm going to start w/24 again and see how it goes for now. :)
Yes, willpower....it was surprising how easy for me it was to stick with WW when i realized "yes, I AM losing weight." Not to say there weren't days when I just wanted to go headfirst into some potato chips and ice cream, though...
oh, are you on sparkpeople? i don't actively use it much aside from reading articles, but i get recipes emailed to me and then i save the good ones, they have some pretty good recipes. if you're on sparkpeople, we can be friends there! :)

  4. I am on sparkpeople. I don't know how to search for friends but if you want to find me I'd love to be friends on there! I love tracking my fitness on their and occasionally do the nutrition tracking. Plus, they too, have little fitness videos. They're usually pretty short, but do a few of them and you got a workout!

Re: WW-- Let's do it! I think with you revisiting it and me just starting out we can help each other.
